What this job involves:

As a Building Engineer with an electrical focus, you'll play a critical role in keeping our facilities running at peak performance, with primary responsibility for electrical systems and building automation. This position centers on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across all building systems, with specialized emphasis on electrical infrastructure. You'll manage complex electrical and building systems, respond to emerging issues, and ensure our facilities meet and exceed applicable standards while our clients' operations continue seamlessly.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems including power distribution, lighting controls, emergency power systems, and building automation infrastructure, while also supporting Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Fire, and Life Safety systems to keep all facility systems performing to applicable standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems throughout the facility, including panels, circuits, transformers, motor controls, and lighting systems. Perform ballast replacements, fixture installations, and electrical component upgrades as needed.
• Monitor and maintain Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems, programming sequences, calibrating sensors, and troubleshooting control logic to optimize facility performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and associated electrical components, including motor testing, control circuit verification, and electrical connection inspections to maintain optimum performance levels.
• Record equipment readings and electrical system parameters, making necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation and identifying potential issues before they escalate.
• Perform periodic checks of electrical test equipment and tool inventory to ensure all instruments are calibrated, properly maintained, and ready for use.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing fixtures and operate drain cleaning equipment as needed to support overall facility operations.

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial building electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to analyze the operation of various industrial Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of electrical problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action.
• Working knowledge of CMMS (i.e. Corrigo) for work order management and preventative maintenance tracking.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Physical ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lay as required to access equipment components and electrical panels for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work exposed to varying environmental conditions including heat, sunlight, rain, cold, and both daylight and nighttime hours.

Preferred qualifications:

• Electrician License or trade certification.
• Trade certifications or technical school training in Electrical disciplines, with additional knowledge in HVAC or Plumbing systems.
• Experience with low-voltage systems including fire alarm, access control, and structured cabling.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), DDC controls, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• EPA 608 Type II Certification or higher for refrigerant handling.
• NICET certification in fire alarm systems or other electrical specialties.
• Experience working in mission-critical facilities or environments requiring 24/7 operations with uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and emergency generators.
