Dental Billing Specialist

Dental Billing Specialist Location: Springfield, OH 45505. Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio (South Limestone Location). FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt – Hourly position. Work Hours: Full‑time. Responsibilities Collect payments for services provided to patients. Perform coding edits to claims. Process EDI files and upload electronic claims to the clearinghouse. Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and assist in establishing budget plans. Post payments received from insurance and patients. Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree a plus. Prior dental billing/accounting experience and familiarity with an Electronic Health Record System (EHR) preferred. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel required. Patient Health Information (PHI) and HIPAA compliance. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications Read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos. Write simple correspondence and present information to customers and employees. Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; ratios, percent calculation). Reasoning ability to apply common sense and solve concrete problems. Computer skills: Accounts Receivable software, spreadsheet software, word processing. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Commitment to patient‑centered care, confidentiality, and quality services in a Federally Qualified Health Center. Ability to adapt to change, follow instructions and policies. Physical Demands Regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands; occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Requires vision, hearing, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Interactions with patients and general public; moderate noise level. Possible exposure to blood or body fluids.
