We are seeking a Data Platform Infrastructure Engineer/SRE to help maintain and enhance an access control platform built around Apache Ranger . This engineer will work on the infrastructure and Kubernetes side of the service, helping ensure reliable deployment, operation, and management of access control policies across customer environments.


The ideal candidate is skilled in Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and Crossplane to build and maintain the infrastructure powering our data platform, and the ability to build and troubleshoot infrastructure from the ground up. You'll ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of large-scale systems, developing tools and dashboards for monitoring and management. Experience with infrastructure-as-code and deploying complex services to Kubernetes is essential. You'll collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to build, test, and maintain robust data platforms.


T he opportunity for You:


We're looking for someone to maintain and enhance Apache Ranger and related access control infrastructure while building, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and workloads from scratch. They will deploy and manage Kubernetes pods and applications, including version upgrades and ongoing maintenance, while supporting customer environments and troubleshooting infrastructure and service-related issues. This role will own the infrastructure/SRE/DevOps side of the service, focusing on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. The engineer will develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions, use Kustomize to manage Kubernetes configurations and deployments, and work with Crossplane to provision and manage infrastructure through Kubernetes-native workflows. They will also contribute to GitHub -based development and infrastructure workflows, help build and maintain Claude skills and tools that enable services to manage access control policies, and collaborate with engineering teams to automate access control and infrastructure management. The role requires the ability to write production-quality code and automation in Java , Go, or Scala.


Key Success Factors:

• 3+ years of experience working with large scale infrastructure systems and cloud environments .
  • Proven ability to work in an agile environment, flexible to adapt to changes.
  • Experience with automation for infrastructure management
• Strong experience scaling, deploying, and operating Kubernetes
  • Experience spinning up Kubernetes clusters from scratch and managing production Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes pods, deployments, upgrades/versions, and troubleshooting customer environments.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes RBAC, security, and access controls .
  • Experience developing, deploying, and managing services on Kubernetes using Helm, Kustomize , and similar tools.
  • Experience with advanced Kubernetes capabilities, such as Operators, OPA policies, webhooks, and custom resources .
  • Experience with the Kubernetes networking ecosystem , including Cilium, ALB/NLB, Envoy, NGINX Ingress, certificate managers , and related technologies.
• Advanced Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (Terraform, Pulumi, Crossplane )
  • Crossplane is HIGHLY preferred .
  • Strong GitHub/Git -based development experience.
  • Fast learner and experience with IaC fundamentals and monitoring solution
• Programming experience in Java (preferred) or Golang or Scala.
  • Experience building Restful web services in Java.
  • Advanced experience with using Claude or AI for coding.
