As a Registered Nurse, you will primarily function as a circulating nurse, although skills in scrubbing are also beneficial. You will oversee and provide patient care under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Director and collaborate with the Operating Room (OR) team. Your responsibilities will include delivering therapeutic and administrative services essential for patient and family care, aligning with our organization’s mission. The Registered Nurse in the Surgery department will care for patients across all developmental stages, from children to seniors. This role requires both scheduled and on-call commitments.

• On-call duties required during specific non-business hours.

• Assess patients prior to surgical procedures.
• Educate patients and families about the procedure and peri-operative processes.
• Prepare patients, including administering intravenous therapy and verifying surgical sites.
• Participate in surgical site verification processes, including briefings and time-outs, in accordance with hospital policies.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies effectively.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while implementing evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate as a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, including surgeons and surgical technologists.
• Utilize critical thinking and technical skills to provide safe nursing care independently.
• Monitor patient conditions throughout your shift and document any changes along with the care provided.
• Educate patients and caregivers about medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.

• Previous experience in Surgery is preferred.
• Experience in both circulating and scrubbing roles is advantageous.
• If new to the OR, a minimum of two years of progressive acute care nursing experience is preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• Must hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license and possess a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in nursing.
