Medical Assistant (Certified) IJoin Team Tidelands and help people live better lives through better health!The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Medical Assistant, Certified performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.What you will doAccompanying patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for examsPerforming and documenting vital signsAssisting with proceduresPreparing and administering medications with physician's authorizationPerforming EKGsUsing CPR skills when requiredDrawing bloodProviding patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special dietsResponsible for stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all timesAdhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulationsEducation QualificationsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent PreferredExperience QualificationsAt least 1 year of related customer facing experience RequiredHealthcare experience PreferredSkills and AbilitiesComputer knowledgeAbility to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients' families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providersAbility to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailMust be able to work independently with limited supervisionPhlebotomy skills and experienceLicenses and CertificationsCertified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association Required orCertified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Required orMedical Assistant - American Medical Technologist Required orNational Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing RequiredBasic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association RequiredPhysical Demand Light Physical Demand The intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
