Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Core Lab - Per Diem

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician provides clinical services to our patient population, maintains knowledge of safe laboratory practices endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and OSHA, and demonstrates superior patient care and communication skills. Duties Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analyses in the Department of Laboratories. Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting according to established protocols. Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures. Proficient in computer protocols as assigned. Adhere to all SBUH and departmental policies. Perform high‑complexity coagulation and chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods. Perform assays requiring multiple dilutions with impeccable technique. Assist in implementing and validating new procedures. Engage in continuing education and attend conferences and off‑site training as needed. Interact professionally with nursing staff, physicians, support staff and peers. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Work every other weekend; pass days and holidays as assigned. Qualifications Required: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility. 3–5 years of relevant experience (SL‑2). Preferred: Generalist background in Hematology and Chemistry. ASCP Certification. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biological, or Life Sciences. Master’s Degree. Additional Requirements Complete pre‑employment physical examination and medical clearance. Complete electronic reference checks with at least three professional references. Complete a four‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required NYS license(s) or certificate(s). Work Conditions May require wearing respiratory protection. Position may be designated as “essential”; employees may be required to remain at work during institutional emergencies. Benefits Anticipated Pay Range: $68.98 – (specific upper range not fully provided). The exact offer will be based on validated experience.
