Cocktail Server

Essential duties include:

• Mixing cocktails for guests seated at the bar and filling orders from the service well.
• Answering telephone, taking reservations, and taking out orders.
• Taking guests food/beverage orders.
• Reading order chits.
• Serving food and beverages, checking for completion and proper order.
• Clearing/cleaning/resetting tables.
• Entering orders into computer system.
• Serving tables when there is no assigned cocktail server.
• Keeping the bar clean and stocked.
• Keeping all garnishes cut.
• Keeping floors clean.
• Re-stocking all juices and bar mixes.
• Performing opening/closing duties, ie: gathering from walk-in cooler, dry storage, dish room, rolling silverware, slicing garnishes. Etc.
• Lifting overhead for stored items, changing out kegs of beer.

Physical functions include:

Adjusting, bending, cleaning, carrying, clearing, closing, controlling, cutting, folding, gathering, guiding, handling, hearing, holding, lifting, maintaining, mixing, opening, placing, positioning, pouring, printing, pulling, pushing, reaching, removing, separating, sorting, speaking, transporting, turning, unloading, writing.

Mental functions include:

Advising, calculating, comparing, coordinating, detecting, estimating, evaluating, inspecting, instructing, interpreting, observing, organizing, planning, reading, selecting, selling, soliciting, sorting, verifying.

Methods, techniques, and procedures include:

• Physically approaching guests at their table, if there is no cocktail server.
• Verbally communicating features to guests.
• Verbally asking for drink orders, if guests are seated at a table, writing it down.
• Verbally instructing guests to visit the salad bar, if applicable.
• Verbally taking and physically writing down guests food order.
• Physically entering food order into computer system.
• Delivering beverages to guest using a tray, if seated at a table in the lounge.
• Calculating length of time for food to be prepared.
• Hand delivering food items to guests.
• Physically mixing drinks for servers at service well.
• Physically mixing drinks for customers seated at bar.

Output includes:

• Being able to mix drinks with speed and accuracy.
• Writing food orders accurately.
• Prompt food and beverage delivery.
• Assisting other servers in maintaining overall service levels.
• Being able to recognize signs of intoxication and handle the situation in a professional manner.
• Being able to serve guests seated at bar, as well as make drinks for servers.
• Calculating food times.

All of the bartender's duties require immediate attention. Greeting, seating, reciting features, mixing cocktails according to their recipe, and being attentive to guests seated at the bar, are all expected output. Failure to perform these functions may result in suspension or termination.

Equipment, aids, tool materials include:

Varying work surfaces, faucets, pens, computers, blenders, measuring tools, glasses, espresso machine (where applicable) glass washer, various chemicals, soda gun.

Working conditions include:

• Possible wet floors.
• Temperatures, heated in winter, cooled in summer.
• Transitional areas from carpet to tile, raised areas ie: steps and in some areas – ramps.
• Medium noise level.
• Walk-in cooler temperatures 32 degrees, freezer 0 degrees
• Standing for 5-8 hours per shift.
• Possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, burns, slips/fall
• Good ventilation.

Supervision control:

Workers are responsible for all assigned work in the area. Report to the General Manager, Assistant Manager, Kitchen Manager, Corporate Management, Owner.
