Activities Director

Facility: Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Position: Activities Director Location: Boynton Beach, FL Schedule: Full-Time | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Salary: $27.00 – $29.00 per hour Job Summary Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a creative, compassionate, and organized Activities Director to lead and manage a dynamic activities program that enhances the quality of life for our residents. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that meet the social, emotional, therapeutic, and recreational needs of residents in compliance with all federal and state regulations. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive activities program tailored to residents’ individual interests, abilities, and needs Complete and/or delegate activity assessments and contribute to individualized care plans Plan and schedule daily group and individual activities, including recreational, educational, cultural, and arts & crafts programs Ensure activities are conducted seven days per week and meet required daily participation standards Monitor and evaluate resident engagement and program effectiveness; adjust as needed Coordinate transportation for resident participation in on-site and off-site activities Maintain a safe environment during all activities and properly store all equipment and supplies Establish and oversee Resident Council, including documentation of meetings and concerns Supervise staff, volunteers, and student interns within the activities department Oversee beauty shop services scheduling and coordination Prepare and post a monthly activities calendar in a visible location Maintain accurate documentation, including MDS reports, progress notes, and care plan updates Assist with departmental budgeting, policy development, staff training, and performance evaluations Qualifications Licensed or registered in the state of practice (if applicable) Must meet one of the following: Eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Minimum of 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years (including at least 1 year full-time in a therapeutic activities program) Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Completion of a state-approved activities training course Benefits Comprehensive Medical & Dental Coverage Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) Retirement Plan Employee Recognition Program Supportive, team-oriented work environment Company perks and employee discounts Join our team at Heartland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents every day.
