Registered Dental Assistant

Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Job Description:

A Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is a licensed dental professional who supports dentists in delivering quality oral health care. RDAs perform a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient patient care and smooth dental office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including examinations, fillings, extractions, and crowns.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and dental operatory areas following infection control protocols.
• Take and develop dental x-rays (radiographs).
• Obtain and record patient medical and dental histories.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Make dental impressions and pour models as needed.
• Perform coronal polishing and apply sealants and fluoride treatments (where permitted by state law).
• Maintain patient records and schedule appointments.
• Manage supply inventory and ensure the treatment area is well-stocked.

Required Qualifications:

• Active RDA license in the state of practice.
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Knowledge of dental software (Oryx) is preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment:

RDAs will work in private family owned dental practice. The role may require extended periods of standing, wearing PPE, and interacting closely with patients and dental staff. Experience preferred but training can also be provided in you are willing and eager to learn. Dental and Medical non traditional insurance coverage can be provided by employer.
