POSITION SUMMARY

Upon completion of orientation and under direct supervision, Dietary Aides are responsible for the preparation, serving, cleaning, sanitizing, and organizational work that helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. The Dietary Aide will contribute to a supportive dining experience for the youth in the PRTF.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares, washes, and cuts fruits, vegetables, and other food items, and plates meals according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, and specific portion sizes as directed by supervisor. Serves meals, snacks, and beverages to residents or patients in dining areas or delivers trays to rooms, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are strictly followed. Cleans and sanitizes food preparation surfaces, counters, serving lines, and dining areas. Washes cooking equipment, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other kitchen items. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment. Inventories and stocks food supplies, snacks, and kitchen equipment in pantries and storage areas. Compiles and maintains basic food service records regarding meal counts, portions served, and supply use as requested. Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of dining and serving equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations. Performs other related food service duties as assigned by supervisor or Dietary Director. Medical Records and Confidential Communication Appropriately considers the sensitivity and confidentiality of medical/psychiatric information along with the need-to-know before sharing information with others. Medical records entries are legible, errors minimized, timely completed, and include signature with professional designation. Users of computer aided records should not share passwords and signoff to reduce unauthorized utilization. Medical records of deficiencies are minimized, and when identified, corrected as soon as practical. Requirements Skills: Ability to assist in preparing meals according to planned menus and dietary guidelines. Knowledge of basic food handling, washing, peeling, slicing, and portion control techniques to assemble accurate meals. Ability to follow standardized recipes, therapeutic diet guidelines, and specific portion requirements under supervision. Understanding of nutritional requirements and ability to accommodate special diets or allergies. Strong interpersonal skills to interact warmly with patients, residents, or guests while serving meals and taking requests. Understanding of standard food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations (such as HACCP principles) to prevent cross-contamination. Proper operation and maintenance of dishwashing equipment, sanitizing solutions, and food service tools.
