Designer IV, Instrumentation & Controls (Oil & Gas)

Bowman has an opportunity for a Designer IV, Instrumentation & Controls (Oil & Gas) to join our team in Houston, TX. Purpose Design, develop, and analyze control systems, instrumentation, and related equipment. Design components and terminations for complete instrumentation interconnect wiring diagrams, ensuring proper connectivity and functionality. Create detailed designs, plans, and specifications for the construction and installation of new systems, as well as the modification and upgrade of existing ones while working closely with a team of engineers and project managers. This will involve coordinating with the design team to ensure all aspects of the project are addressed and that the final designs are accurate and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, you will be engaged to participate in project scoping, planning, status reporting and scope management. Responsibilities Provides computer aided design drafting, prepares drawings and schematics derived from specifications, layouts, vendor data, and sketches. Coordinates and consults with engineers or other designers to complete projects, ensuring adherence to established specifications and standards. Supports equipment sizing & selection, alternative analyses, and other deliverables. Supports engineering, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities. Prepares, reviews, and approves instrumentation equipment, conduit, and wiring BOMs and designs. Prepares, reviews, and approves HMI layout and Network Architecture Diagrams. Plans, forecasts, and actualizes deliverable progress to support project reporting and schedule requirements. Identifies scope changes and estimates impact to effort and schedule. Supports proposal efforts by evaluating RFP scope, identifying list of deliverables, and estimating effort required. Works independently. Plays a role in presenting design deliverables to project members, cross‑functional teams, senior leadership, external vendors, clients, and other stakeholders. Participates in project scoping, planning, status reporting and scope management. Success Metrics and Competencies Ability to work both independently and within a team. Seven or more (7+) years of experience. Excellent facilitation, communication, and analytical skills – written and verbal. High level of personal integrity. Strong relationship capabilities. Proficient in both written and spoken English. Physical Demands and Working Environment Partially indoor professional office environment with exposure to light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic. Mobility required around office and job sites. Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
