Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Outpatient (Managed Care / Prior Authorization)

Location: Portland, OR

Shift Details: Day Shift | 5x8 Hours | 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Contract Duration: 26 Weeks
On-call: 2-3 weekends per year
Orientation: 40 Hours (Non-Billable - Reduced Orientation Job)
Required Qualifications

Oregon Pharmacy Technician License required
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (mandatory)
Minimum 2 years of pharmacy technician experience OR Bachelor's degree
Experience in managed care / prior authorization preferred
Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and medical terminology
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle high-volume workload independently
Knowledge of pharmacy laws, insurance regulations, and HIPAA

Job Responsibilities

Process pharmacy prior authorizations based on clinical guidelines
Review and validate pharmacy claims, eligibility, and benefit data
Handle inbound calls and route requests to clinical teams as needed
Perform data entry for authorizations, referrals, and medication records
Apply ICD-10 and CPT coding for case tracking and documentation
Communicate with providers, pharmacies, and members regarding cases
Audit claims and documentation for accuracy and compliance
Support pharmacy benefit operations and regulatory requirements
Prepare reports and assist with quality improvement activities
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards
