Join our Team! The Town of Estes Park seeks interested and qualified applicants for the position of Events Maintenance Worker I. This position is Open Until Filled and the vacancy may close without notice after the first review date of May 18th, 2026. The Events Maintenance Worker positions provide a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled laboring tasks in support of the operation and maintenance of the Town owned fairgrounds, Events Center and other Town infrastructure.

The below list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all encompassing. The Town may change these duties at any time.

  • Assists, performs and/or directs a variety special event planning with internal staff and outside vendors.
  • Works closely with vendors and citizens to set up event staging and coordination during events.
  • Performs routine safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment and maintains records of activities.
  • May operate heavy and light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction assignments.
  • May perform a variety heavy laboring activities including the use of hand tools, light power equipment and heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
  • May perform various janitorial/custodian duties
  • Establishes and performs traffic control for special events as needed.
  • Performs data entry of information, maintenance logs and other data.
  • Maintains a safe working environment to include working in traffic, congested areas and all work environments.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Performs snow removal activities either by hand, small equipment or heavy equipment as assigned.
  • Construction of wood, concrete, and miscellaneous facilities involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical wiring using accepted construction practices (routine, limited).
  • Use of safety equipment including confined space and hazardous entry.
  • Performs other related work as required or assigned.

Level I: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Level II:
  1. Meet qualification for Level I
  2. Two years equivalent experience as an Events Maintenance Worker I at the Town of Estes Park.
  3. Ability to lead others such as seasonal employees, temporary employees and/or volunteers in day-to-day event operations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize projects on a daily basis along with Event Orders.

Valid Colorado Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. Out of state candidates must obtain Colorado License within 6 months of hire.

  • Knowledge and ability to use and maintain hand tools and equipment such as backhoe, dump truck, bobcat, snow plow, skid steer, loader, excavator, jet trailer, and grader.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions and ability to solve basic problems.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods of time, including:
    • Operating various types of tools and equipment associated with street, water, park, or grounds maintenance.
    • Lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading heavy items and materials.
    • Removing snow by hand with shovel and snow blower.
    • Hand-digging, sweeping, and raking various landscaping, grounds, and street repair materials.
    • Accessing and working from below-grade trenches and above-grade ladders, scaffolds, or platforms.
    • Walking throughout work areas containing various topographical conditions, visually identifying needed work, and inspecting work results.
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate records and prepare reports when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and drawings.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Must be able to work an on-call work schedule and be able to respond to emergency situations per departmental policy.
  • At the Level II:
    • Knowledge of events facilities and how events operate in the Events Complex, Bond Park, Performance Park, and George Hix Plaza. Full understanding of maps and schematics used to set up events.
    • In depth knowledge of the equipment and supply inventory used for events, including stage and bleacher transport, set up and take down.
    • Knowledge of how to perform duties during a live animal event.
    • May be primary person responsible for scheduling and coordination of certain tasks such as but not limited to Marquee, Banner installation, or Trash Removal.
    • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
