• 12 or more units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required
• AA degree preferred
• Valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit preferred (Required for Title 5 programs)
• Infant/toddler Child Development Coursework (3-semester units) required for infant classrooms
• 1+ years of experience supervising children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old in an infant, toddler or preschool early learning program
• Working knowledge or the ability to learn District adopted software
• Must have current or be able to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification and maintain certification during employment
• 8-hour Health and Safety training course or ability to obtain
• Proof of immunizations against influenza, pertussis, and measles
• Knowledge of early learning requirements in Title 22 and Title 5
• Knowledge of early childhood education, best practices, teaching methods and techniques
• Written and verbal communication skills in English
• Physical agility to lift up to 40 lbs to shoulder height
• Must be able to walk, squat, bend, and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children
• Ability to sit at low tables, on small, low chairs, on the floor or on the ground, and in classrooms of various configurations for extended periods of time
• Ability to drive personal vehicle as needed
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information with students, families, colleagues, and the school community

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for visual supervision of children and maintaining teacher/child ratio according to Title 22 and Title 5 Supports substitutes in following classroom routines to meet individual students' needs. Participates in parent conferences Support during meals and supervise children during mealtime Maintains confidentiality of children, families, and employees Assist the teachers in maintaining an orderly, sanitary, and safe environment that is well organized and supports children's development of school readiness and social and emotional -development Supports the teacher in developing, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum based on district standards and expectations to offer an educationally stimulating environment Responsible for completing and maintaining compliance in the program quality and assessment processes Supervise the use of the restrooms and assist in toilet learning Responsible for remaining current in updates and changes in child development, regulations, and program guidelines Administer basic First Aid as needed; teach and encourage good health and safety habits Assists other programs when requested Attends meetings as requested Responsible for the organization, care, and protection of school property Participate in district professional learning and attend additional learning opportunities to meet the required 21 professional growth hours per year Perform other duties as assigned Other Requirements Copy of Transcript (TRANSCRIPTS FOR ECE UNITS) Comments and Other Information*Incomplete applications and/or those lacking current information may not be considered as eligible candidates #J-18808-Ljbffr Santa Clara Unified School District
