1.0 POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is a key leadership role that supervises the production team — owning safety, quality, schedule, and people — while enforcing policies, managing resources, and providing hands-on coaching to the production floor team. The position requires a proactive approach to managing daily production activities, a strong presence on the shop floor, and close collaboration with Production Leads and the Assistant Production Manager to ensure projects are completed within specified timeframes and quality standards. The Supervisor leads by example with a hands-on, “whatever it takes” attitude — including stepping in to assist with tasks or use tools when needed — and treats efficiency and cost management, particularly overtime, as core components of the role.

2.0 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cultural Representation & Team Leadership

• Lead by example with a hands-on, “whatever it takes” approach, stepping in to assist with tasks or use tools when needed.

• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, ensuring workforce alignment with daily goals.

Supervision & Scheduling

• Supervise the production team, assigning work, managing attendance, and balancing daily workload to the schedule.

• Conduct on-the-job training, performance feedback, and first-level corrective action in partnership with HR.

• Own area safety, housekeeping, and standard-work compliance.

• Track productivity, quality, and throughput; drive continuous-improvement actions.

• Enforce company policies and production procedures consistently across the team, including safety, protective clothing, badge, and timekeeping requirements.

• Review and approve team timecards by payroll deadlines, schedule meal periods to maintain coverage, and ensure all time worked is accurately recorded per Company policy.

• Anticipate the needs of Production Leads and provide the resources to address challenges, offering guidance, troubleshooting, and hands-on assistance when required.

Production Execution

• Drive daily production to schedule, quality, and safety targets.

• Coordinate staffing, workflow, and resources across the build process.

• Resolve constraints with Planning, Quality, and Engineering.

• Track and improve throughput, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

• Work closely with the Assistant Production Manager and Production Leads to mitigate production delays and prevent bottlenecks.

• Provide real-time guidance and decision-making to optimize workflow, manage staff, and meet project deadlines.

• Assist in adjusting production schedules as needed to meet deadlines or resolve unforeseen issues.

• Ensure quality control measures are adhered to and maintain high production standards throughout the process.

Overtime & Cost Management

• Actively manage and balance workloads across the production team to reduce unnecessary overtime and manage costs effectively.

• Collaborate with the Assistant Production Manager to make decisions that minimize overtime hours, aiming to stay under 50 hours per employee per week when possible.

• Ensure extended workdays and overtime follow Company policy, including required prior approvals for hours beyond policy limits.

Coaching & Development

• Coach and mentor Production Leads to improve leadership skills and operational efficiency.

• Ensure leads are effectively managing their teams by offering feedback, conducting one-on-one meetings, and supporting skill development.

• Provide regular feedback to employees, ensuring they meet production standards and work collaboratively with other team members.

Collaboration & Communication

• Act as the key point of contact for daily production updates, ensuring seamless communication between production teams, leads, and upper management.

• Communicate clearly with all employees about project expectations, timelines, and any adjustments needed.

• Participate in meetings with leads and the Assistant Production Manager to continuously improve production strategies.

• Propose policy or procedural adjustments to the Assistant Production Manager and/or Production Manager for review and approval before implementation.

• Remain open to continuous feedback, adapting to evolving needs and implementing changes where necessary.

3.0 QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Production leadership experience in manufacturing.

• Knowledge of build flow, scheduling, and lean methods.

• Strong people-leadership and communication.

• Problem-solving and continuous-improvement orientation.

• Safety and quality focus.

• Dependable attendance.

• Supervisory experience including scheduling and performance feedback.

• Working knowledge of safety and standard-work compliance.

• Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

• Hands-on approach to leadership with a “whatever it takes” attitude to complete tasks.

Preferred

• Switchgear/control-panel manufacturing.

• Lean/Six Sigma.

• ERP scheduling experience.

4.0 REPORTING STRUCTURE

Reports To: Production Manager

• Reports to the Production Manager.

5.0 COMPENSATION & PAY BAND

Assigned Pay Grade: G-6 (Salary)

Incentive Guideline: MIP (per pay band governance)

Pay placement, incentive eligibility, payout, and metrics are governed by the applicable approved pay band and incentive plan and by company performance conditions.
