Physical / Occupational Therapist Consultant

The Periscope Group is seeking therapists to work as independent contractors in New Orleans, LA and surrounding areas to provide per diem consulting services.

The Periscope Group has a network of physical and occupational therapists around the country who perform one time only, in-home medical necessity assessments. In 2022 we partnered with a medical device company to expand our scope to medical device trainings. Periscope consultants educate and fit people who experience peripheral neuropathy with a wearable device that is clinically proven to improve gait and balance. We do not provide patient care, only consulting services. Documentation is simple and completed via secure online portal; any device that you have that can access the internet can be used to complete the work.

Our technology platform provides a secure, compliant solution for clinicians and customers to communicate and collaborate. We deliver objective, in-home data to accurately determine medical need, and apply coverage criteria so medical management can confidently make benefit decisions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in training to become a certified wearable device trainer
• Perform one-time medical device training to patients with peripheral neuropathy
• Provide education on use of the device
• Complete documentation in a timely manner with collaboration with the review team as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Current licensure as a Physical or Occupational Therapist (Sorry, No PTAs or COTAs).
• Malpractice/Liability Insurance (may be purchased at the time of job offer).
• Reliable vehicle for work
• Ability to complete physical requirements of the job including lifting a 30-pound, navigating stairs and a variety of dwelling conditions, and sit, stand and kneel to perform physical assessment, occasionally, as needed.

• Experience with home safety assessments
• Comfort assessing a wide variety of conditions and diagnoses
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and writing
• Comfort using technology and electronic documentation
• Ability to think outside the box, utilize critical thinking skills and come up with appropriate solutions
• Drive to continually learn and grow
• Prior experience is not required- we are willing to train the right person

Licensed Physical / Occupational Therapists only. (Sorry, No COTA's or PTA's)

Routine Assessment Rate

$135 - $200 USD
