Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Tennessee
• At least 2 years of recent registered nursing experience in cardiac stepdown, progressive care, PCU, or a comparable high-acuity setting; nurses with at least 1 year of recent unit experience may be considered
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
• Minimum 1 year of recent Epic electronic medical record experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Cardiac telemetry experience with demonstrated ability to interpret dysrhythmias
• Experience with cardiac drips, heparin protocols, post-myocardial infarction care, and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Ability to float to qualified units or locations when needed and perform only duties supported by documented competencies
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in a cardiac stepdown and progressive care setting.
• Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry, identify rhythm changes, and promptly escalate significant clinical findings.
• Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, angiography, cardiac surgery, myocardial infarction, and thrombolytic therapy.
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, and other complex nursing equipment.
• Administer medications and manage cardiac, vasoactive, insulin, and anticoagulation therapies according to orders, protocols, and demonstrated competencies.
• Provide respiratory support and monitoring, including oxygen therapy, high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, and CPAP as appropriate.
• Perform focused assessments, interpret arterial blood gases and relevant diagnostic findings, and communicate changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams to coordinate safe, effective care.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient status and participate in rapid response or code team activities when indicated.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic.
