We are seeking a motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist to support our environmental team at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.

This position is ideal for an environmental professional with experience in environmental compliance, petroleum storage tanks/POL, environmental inspections, sampling, waste management, or related regulatory programs who enjoys a combination of fieldwork, technical documentation, and project support.

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will have a primary role supporting petroleum storage tank and POL compliance activities while also providing support across other environmental programs.

• Conduct inspections of petroleum storage tanks and associated equipment and maintain accurate inspection and compliance records.
• Prepare and support required petroleum storage tank compliance documentation and periodic reporting.
• Assist with petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) management and related environmental compliance activities.
• Collect soil and groundwater samples in accordance with applicable sampling procedures and project requirements.
• Maintain field documentation, sampling records, chain-of-custody documentation, and other environmental compliance records.
• Support environmental compliance with applicable federal, Florida, Department of Defense, Space Force, and installation requirements.
• Assist with waste-reduction, pollution-prevention, and other environmental program initiatives.
• Conduct field observations and inspections and document findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
• Maintain environmental records, databases, spreadsheets, and other program documentation.
• Prepare technical correspondence, regulatory documentation, reports, and other environmental program materials.
• Coordinate with environmental team members, Government personnel, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Provide cross-program support in environmental areas such as:
  • Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  • Solid and regulated waste management
  • Asbestos and lead-based paint management
  • Petroleum, oil, and lubricant (POL) management
  • Other environmental compliance programs, as assigned

We're interested in candidates with a combination of education, environmental experience, and demonstrated ability to successfully perform environmental compliance work.

• Relevant education, training, and/or professional experience in environmental science, environmental compliance, natural resources, engineering, geology, environmental technology, or a related field.
• Professional experience supporting environmental compliance, environmental fieldwork, petroleum storage tanks/POL, waste management, environmental sampling, or similar programs.
• Ability to understand and apply environmental regulatory and program requirements.
• Strong recordkeeping skills and attention to detail.
• Experience conducting field inspections, observations, sampling, or other environmental field activities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently in the field while also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to interact professionally with clients, Government personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate Government or company vehicles when required.
• Ability to meet applicable Government background, access, drug-screening, Common Access Card (CAC), and information-technology access requirements.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

This position includes a combination of office and fieldwork. Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential field responsibilities of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including working outdoors in varying weather conditions, walking or standing for extended periods, navigating field locations and uneven terrain, and safely using environmental sampling and inspection equipment.

The following experience is helpful but is not required:

• Experience with petroleum storage tank compliance, inspections, or POL management.
• Knowledge of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) environmental requirements.
• Experience collecting soil, groundwater, or other environmental samples and maintaining associated field and chain-of-custody documentation.
• Experience with environmental compliance programs involving petroleum storage tanks, regulated or solid waste, pollution prevention, asbestos, lead-based paint, or similar environmental media.
• Experience preparing environmental compliance or regulatory reports.
• Experience supporting an Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Previous environmental experience at a military installation, federal facility, Space Force/Air Force installation, or other complex regulated facility.
• Familiarity with Department of Defense environmental policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between field and office responsibilities, maintaining accurate environmental records, identifying and documenting compliance issues, and working collaboratively with environmental professionals and Government stakeholders.

You do not need experience in every environmental program listed above to be considered. Candidates with strong environmental compliance or field experience and an interest in expanding their knowledge across multiple environmental programs are encouraged to apply.
