Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager, the Lead Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical and operational leadership for clinic support teams to ensure efficient workflows, staff coordination, and high-quality patient care. This role does not include formal supervisory authority (e.g., hiring, discipline, or performance evaluations), but serves as a lead resource, mentor, and workflow coordinator within the clinic. Responsibilities Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high school education or equivalent as recognized by an approved government accreditation association. Must be able to perform VFC ordering, documentation and management. Current Certificate of Completion/Proficiency from an accredited Medical Assistant program Must hold a nationally recognized certification (CMA/RMA) from an accredited credentialing body, such as the National Healthcareer Associations (NHA), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Certification Medical Association (NCMA), or American Medical Technologists (AMA). Current Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card (new hires must also complete the application process for this card before being released to their department, if applicable). Maintains current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs. 6-8 years of clinical experience. Must be comfortable with giving immunizations and venipuncture. Must have experience in documenting in AIISIS. Must have experience in obtaining prior authorizations for medications. Must be able to perform EKG and breathing treatments and assist with procedures such as lesion removal, circumcisions, etc. Must be able to perform in office testing (strep/urine dipsticks, UDS, Breath Alcohol). Must be a self-starter, not requiring direction or micro-management. Must be familiar with medical terminology along with basic computer and keyboarding skills required. Manual dexterity, ability to work under stress in a variety of situations and locations required. Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance required. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, reach, kneels and stretch, using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time required. Must have the mental and physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation required. Ability to successfully become a core-trainer and super user of electronic health record. First-line problem solving skills with the ability to listen, understand and solve or escalate provider issues before they become more serious. Basic understanding of Human Resource laws and clinic policies to increase staff satisfaction and productivity levels. Ability to always demonstrate the highest level of performance and behavior standards. Ability to be honest and straightforward, dealing with issues fairly and consistently. Preferred Qualifications Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic records systems.
