Job Title: Manufacturing Lab Technician – Liquids and Powder Compounding Job Description

This role focuses on accurately weighing, mixing, and compounding liquid and powdered materials to support manufacturing operations in a clean room, GMP-regulated environment. The technician follows established formulas, batch records, and safety procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality production while maintaining detailed documentation and supporting overall production efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Accurately weigh, measure, and compound liquid and powdered materials according to approved formulas and batch records.
• Operate, monitor, and clean mixing, blending, and compounding equipment in alignment with safety and quality standards.
• Prepare raw materials and stage ingredients for production runs to ensure efficient workflow.
• Document batch data, measurements, and production outcomes in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Perform in-process quality checks to verify product consistency, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following safety, sanitation, and housekeeping standards.
• Assist with inventory control by recording material usage, monitoring stock levels, and promptly reporting shortages.
• Follow all company policies related to safety, quality, and attendance to support a reliable and compliant operation.
• Support other production tasks as needed, including blending, mixing, and general production activities.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to troubleshoot issues and improve processes where appropriate.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in liquids and powders compounding, with openness to training for candidates with strong potential.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with chemical compounding, formulation, blending, mixing, and batch record execution.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and clean room production standards.
• Basic knowledge of chemical handling, chemical testing, and quality control processes in a production or lab environment.
• Ability to accurately document lab and production data, including batch records and lab documentation.
• Proficiency using computer software including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Sage ERP.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with production, quality, and support teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a production or lab setting.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency when following formulas, procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Motivation to achieve results and meet production and quality targets.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds as part of daily production and material handling tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with distillation processes in a production or laboratory environment.
• Background or coursework in food chemistry, food science, or related scientific disciplines.
• Familiarity with FDA-regulated environments and compliance expectations.
• Experience working with production equipment such as blenders, mixers, and other compounding machinery.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments that emphasize quality control, lab documentation, and GMP compliance.
• Comfort working with chemicals and compounds in a controlled, process-driven setting.
• Interest in developing deeper expertise in chemical compounding, formulation, and process optimization.
• Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and support a variety of production tasks as needed.

Work Environment

The role operates in a clean room environment governed by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), with a strong focus on cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and quality procedures. You will work closely with production and quality teams, using mixing, blending, and compounding equipment, as well as computer systems including Windows-based tools, Microsoft Office, and Sage ERP. The position involves regular lifting of materials up to 60 pounds and requires consistent attention to sanitation and equipment cleaning. The facility emphasizes work-life balance and, upon conversion to a permanent role, offers comprehensive benefits and scheduled downtime during the last one to two weeks of the year.

This is a Contract position based out of Sykesville, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
