Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, hybrid role based in Tewksbury, MA, with some work-from-home flexibility. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, including processing accounts payable and receivable, preparing journal entries, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, and assisting with month-end close. The Staff Accountant will help maintain the general ledger, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and prepare reports and schedules for internal stakeholders and external auditors. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project cost tracking, collaborating with project managers and other departments on financial data, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards. The role may also assist with process improvements, implementation of accounting systems or tools, and other finance-related tasks as assigned. Qualifications Strong general accounting skills, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., ERP systems), Microsoft Excel, and other standard office applications. Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, invoicing, and vendor/customer account management. Ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and support budgeting, forecasting, and project cost tracking. Knowledge of GAAP and basic tax and compliance requirements relevant to corporate accounting. Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, project management, and operations teams. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a relevant certification (e.g., CPA or progress toward certification) is a plus. Prior experience in construction, engineering, energy, or project-based environments is beneficial.
