This faculty position offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of physicians through leadership in curriculum development, teaching, clinical instruction, and mentorship across all four years of undergraduate medical education. The successful candidate will be a dedicated clinician-educator who plays a key role in designing, implementing, and evaluating the Internal Medicine curriculum—ensuring excellence, consistency, and innovation across all instructional sites. The faculty member will report to and be evaluated by the Chair of Internal Medicine and will actively contribute to the mission of fostering an academic culture of excellence, respect, and inquiry. Demonstrate a commitment to working for an organization that values and promotes humanism. Required Qualifications Education MD or DO degree from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must have completed residency training and be Board Certified (or Board Eligible) in Internal Medicine. Experience Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in one or more of the following: Teaching in a medical curriculum at an accredited institution of higher learning. Conducting medical or medical education research. Serving in a clerkship director or equivalent educational leadership role Preferred Qualifications Demonstrate experience in teaching medical students and/or prior service as a clerkship director in an accredited medical institution. Additional qualifications may include: Formal training or coursework in medical education. Experience in curriculum design and assessment. Clinical or educational research experience with a record of scholarly dissemination. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop, deliver, and evaluate curriculum in Internal Medicine across all four years of medical training. Provide didactic instruction, case-based teaching, and small-group facilitation for first-fourth year students. Facilitate and contribute to instruction in the Healthcare Simulation Lab. Oversee and standardize the Internal Medicine core clerkship during the third year across all clinical sites, ensuring fairness and consistency in student assessment. Develop opportunities and oversee the implementation of advanced electives and sub-internships in Internal Medicine for third- and fourth-year students, preparing them for residency training. Support and provide facilitation for the Interprofessional Education curriculum. Continuously evaluate and update curricular content to align with national standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities Contribute to educational scholarship through research, publications, and presentations at regional and national conferences. Participate in faculty development and mentor junior colleagues. Engage in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work and attendance at general faculty meetings. Collaborate with faculty and leadership to ensure compliance with COCA accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities Serve as a professional role model, promoting integrity, compassion, and excellence in patient care. Mentor and advise students in Internal Medicine or subspecialties, providing guidance on residency applications and career planning. Construct letters of recommendations for students in support of scholarships and residency applications. Support student scholarly activity and quality improvement projects. Key Responsibilities Special Projects as Assigned: Undertake special projects as assigned by the Department Chair, contributing expertise to strategic initiatives that advance the mission of the Department of Internal Medicine and the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP).
