About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Acute - Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Level 1 Trauma Experience Description: Must have Level 1 Trauma experience. 50-mile radius rule applies. A valid driver's license is required. Candidates must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Candidates are expected to have natural hair color and no facial piercings. Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing. There is a pass/fail exam on the first day of orientation. All RNs will go through a skills lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes. Candidates must understand maintaining a sterile field, as it is a critical nursing skill. Those not competent in Foley catheter insertion or central line dressing changes may not be a good fit. Candidates will also be educated on lifts, restraints, and wound care, although those are educational sessions. The unit specializes in trauma, orthopedics, and surgical care. Common diagnoses include post-operative transplants, Whipple procedures, spine surgeries, and orthopedic joint procedures. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4-5. Charting is conducted through an electronic medical record system. Nurses must be prepared to float to medical/surgical/telemetry units as needed. 24/7 respiratory and pharmacy support is available. Weekend requirement is three shifts in a four-week period. Holidays will be worked into the regular staff rotation.
