About the Organization\n The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center is a multi-specialty provider dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our community. Our commitment to high-quality services extends beyond traditional counseling; we also operate a Level III Trauma Center, providing comprehensive care that includes both mental and physical health support. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities through superior treatment options designed to improve health outcomes. Work Environment\n As a remote position, you will conduct therapy sessions via telehealth platforms, making it easier to connect with patients from various backgrounds and locations. Our virtual environment supports a flexible schedule, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality care without the burden of commuting. The role adheres to a structured workweek from Monday through Friday, ensuring work-life balance with no on-call obligations. Key Responsibilities\n \n Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' mental health conditions with a focus on issues related to obesity and binge eating. \n Utilize standardized diagnostic tools and methodologies to assess mental health challenges and formulate appropriate treatment plans. \n Deliver personalized one-on-one therapy sessions addressing the emotional, behavioral, and psychological aspects of weight loss and management. \n Educate patients on the psychological factors impacting their eating behaviors, focusing on self-esteem, body image, stress management, and coping strategies. \n Empower individuals to implement sustainable lifestyle changes through evidence-based treatment approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. \n Facilitate or co-facilitate group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive environment for shared experiences among patients. \n Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nutritionists, and physical therapists, to ensure holistic care addressing both emotional and physical health needs. \n Regularly evaluate patient progress toward their mental health and weight management goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary. \n Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities to stay abreast of the latest trends and methodologies in mental health counseling. \n Maintain high ethical standards in patient interactions, ensuring confidentiality and professional integrity at all times. \n Patient Population / Client Focus\n Your primary focus will be individuals coping with obesity and binge eating disorders. These patients often face unique psychological hurdles that require a tailored therapeutic approach. By addressing their emotional needs alongside behavioral patterns, you will help facilitate positive long-term outcomes, such as improved health metrics and quality of life. Qualifications\n \n A master’s degree in mental health counseling or a related field is required. \n An active and unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license to practice in New York State is mandatory. \n Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively conveying complex concepts to patients. \n Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds as part of the role's requirements. \n Strong visual abilities, including the capacity for near and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception. \n Preferred Experience\n \n Prior experience in telehealth counseling is highly regarded, as familiarity with virtual platforms can enhance patient engagement. \n Experience in weight management counseling or with eating disorders will be beneficial in this role, enabling you to provide relevant support and insights. \n Prior involvement with EPIC EMR software will be advantageous, facilitating a smooth transition into our practice workflow. \n Compensation and Benefits\n The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center offers a competitive salary range between $90,000 and $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a robust salary, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes options for loan repayment for eligible candidates, long-term disability protection, and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to meet the needs of our employees.
