Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Expected

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 34-bed Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit serving adolescent through elderly populations, including surgical and medical patients requiring telemetry monitoring
• Care for post-operative patients including joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder) and general surgery cases such as appendectomies, exploratory laparotomies, and hernia repairs
• Manage patients requiring wall suction, including those with small bowel obstructions (SBOs), as this unit is the designated unit with wall suction capability
• Function within a care delivery model consisting of 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 PCT per 9 patients; participate in modified team structures when full teams are not available
• Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed
• Document accurately using EPIC (required) and adhere to all unit protocols and compliance standards

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN License — must be in hand at time of submission
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN experience
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with joint replacement or orthopedic surgical patient populations
• Familiarity with care delivery team models in a high-acuity Medical Surgical setting
