This role will partner closely with operations to drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across our Central Division team in Indianapolis, Indiana.About the RoleThe Safety Manager partners with operations to support and strengthen safe execution across projects or regions. This role provides subject matter expertise, coordinates safety efforts, and influences planning and performance to ensure effective implementation of safety programs. The Safety Manager does not own project execution but drives consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Regular travel is required.What You'll DoProvide safety leadership and guidance to project teams and field supervisionBuild strong relationships with project managers, superintendents, craft personnel, and trade partnersServe as the primary safety resource for assigned projects or regionMentor, coach, and develop Safety Coordinators and project safety staffAdvise leadership on safety compliance risks, concerns, and preventative actionsImplement and maintain safety programs, policies, and procedures across projectsEnsure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety requirementsMonitor performance, track regulatory changes, and drive consistency in safety practicesAdminister and support the Drug-Free Workplace programReview and influence pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and overall work planningPartner with operations to identify hazards and mitigate risk prior to executionSupport and deliver safety training, meetings, orientations, and toolbox talksConduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure safe work environmentsLead or support incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysisCoordinate corrective actions and ensure timely closure and follow-throughCommunicate lessons learned and reinforce best practices across teamsTrack, analyze, and report safety performance metrics and trendsSupport claims management, documentation, and return-to-work processesMaintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and compliance activitiesHold subcontractors accountable to safety standards and expectationsParticipate in safety reviews and escalate unresolved risks or non-compliance issuesProvide oversight, mentorship, and development of Safety Coordinators and project safety personnelQualificationsBasic understanding of state worker compensation laws and reporting requirements.Strong organizational skills and time management; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Ability to build trust and influence field leadership and project teams.Strong communication skills and ability to deliver clear, actionable guidance.Ability to analyze risk, identify trends, and support problem-solving and decision-making.Capable of maintaining confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with respect and professionalism.Must have current driver's licenseEducation and Experience5-8+ years' construction safety experienceBachelor's degree in Safety, Construction or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).CertificationsRequired: OSHA 30First Aid/CPR/AEDOSHA 500, EM385, ASP, CSP a plus (Will provide if necessary) All new hires must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
