Production Operator

Location: Houston, TX

Pay: $17.00-$18.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Duration: 3+-month contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable Chemical Production Operator to support daily manufacturing and packaging operations in a chemical production environment. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity while following Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and plant procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate packaging equipment and understand packaging processes.
• Handle, store, and transport chemical materials using motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Operate manufacturing processes using both manual controls and computer-controlled systems.
• Package materials into appropriate containers following established procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations, including emergency shutdowns within assigned areas.
• Complete required documentation, including:
  • Plant data sheets
  • Environmental reports
  • Inventory records
  • Forklift inspection reports
• Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and workplace safety.
• Complete all required operator training, certifications, and plant-specific training.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet production demands.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of manufacturing experience (chemical manufacturing preferred).
• At least 1 year of forklift operating experience.
• Strong English reading comprehension, math, and technical skills.
• Ability to learn and qualify on multiple manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and technical documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions while using sound judgment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, and balance throughout the workday.
• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs.
• Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance.

Work Environment

• Exposure to wet and humid conditions.
• Frequent work around moving mechanical equipment.
• Occasional exposure to:
  • Chemicals (acids and bases)
  • Fumes and airborne particles
  • Outdoor weather conditions
  • Heat, noise, and vibration
  • Elevated work areas
