Environmental Project Manager

Environmental and Compliance Project Manager This position will provide environmental support for the Asset Management and Operations teams that oversee all EPA, OSHA and NESHAP company and local requirements regarding safety and hazardous materials handling. Responsibilities Manage and advise on all regulatory compliance issues including EPA, OSHA, ADA and other federal and state regulations. Project Manage emergency and high-priority demolition and renovation projects while adhering to EPA, OSHA, company and local requirements regarding safety and hazardous materials handling. Manage and coordinate mold assessment and remediation projects with guidance from ELS counsel. Responsible for supervising work of outside contractors during performance of asbestos, , lead and/or other hazardous waste removal and testing to ensure adherence to federal, state and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures. Maintaining and enhancing the standardized asbestos NESHAP operational procedures in accordance with the environmental compliance, interpreting the environmental disturbance risks, and communicating with environmental regulatory authorities for compliance assistance. Working knowledge of hazardous materials including hazardous wastes, asbestos, and other hazardous pollutants. Ability to research, understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes. Coordinate with regulatory agencies about matters of pollution and hazards. Assist with development and upgrade project approval emails and memorandums Manage and source national vendor relationships for Environmental Services Train and Educate the Asset Management & Operations teams on best practices and responsible environmental procedures. Understand and advise on ADA protocol/procedures and lead compliance issues. Requirements Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree (B. A.) Associate of Arts in environmental science (or related fields like environmental science technology or watershed science). Bachelor of Science or Arts in environmental science/studies. Language Skills -Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Familiar with the concepts of financial statements, lease review. Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, you should have above average ability to perform word processing and data entry into spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Must possess knowledge of sending and receiving email as well as retrieving information from the Internet. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations -Valid Drivers' License required. Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, co-workers, managers and residents. Possess excellent organization and project management skills, leadership skills as well as the ability to manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have the ability to analyze operations and initiate changes to improve property performance. Ability to travel.
