A Shift Leader is the guardian of our Brand and of our restaurant culture and is intentional on ensuring remarkable guest experiences. 

  Role Summary:

A Team Leader is considered a very strong position in the day-to-day operations of the business. They are running a shift while managing labor and breaks, executing catering and ensuring excellent customer service. This position is mainly operational. Team Leaders spend nearly all their time working a position, with few administrative duties.

A Team Leader is expected to be developing their verbal, written and electronic communication skills, organizational and follow up skills, ability to prioritize, solve problems, use critical and forward thinking to anticipate business and shift needs and share in achieving the restaurant’s vision and goals. The ability to run a strategic shift is a non-negotiable skill that a Team Leader must possess and consistently demonstrate. Team Leaders actively develop and coach Pacesetters. Additionally, Team Leaders may be selected to assist Directors or Senior Leads in a role based on the Team Leader’s passion and strengths. This added role gives the Team Leader a focused area of ownership, providing an additional opportunity for growth.

A successful Team Leader must be professional, mature, patient, and growth minded. Additionally, they must be humble, a servant leader, willing to share, receive and apply success and feedback. They must be confident enough to willingly coach or correct employees. They should never be threatened by the success of others nor difficult challenges. Most importantly they must have enough integrity (a deep desire to do what is right versus “being right”) to build a strong, healthy organization. Team Lead must exhibit the ability to overcome obstacles and maintain accountability for their own failures. (Example: claims such as “I don’t feel supported” after being held accountable vs pursuing support proactively.)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• The #1 Goal of a Team Leader is to develop others and strategize shifts
• Works with Directors and Senior Lead to maintain harmony or to restore harmony if it is ever disrupted
• Willing and able to have hard conversations and handle hard situations if needed. Does not shy away from conflict, but solves all conflict professionally
• Accepts full responsibility and accountability for the business
• Leaders at all levels must enforce and understand that the guest experience (i.e. speed of service, food quality and safety, guest interaction, etc) take priority over auxiliary tasks.
• Leads by example. Expected to exhibit CORE 4 and 2nd Mile Service AND ensure that every team member is exhibiting these behaviors
• Must be fully capable of following the opening and closing procedures of the restaurant
• Team Leaders are expected to manage one or two key areas of operational importance. These responsibilities lie on top of other operational duties
• Follow and enforce restaurant policy and procedures at all times
• Fully aware of vision and goals for the month and able to report on progress toward their assigned responsibilities and objectives
• Being mentored is part of the development process of a Team Leader
• Certified in Chick-fil-A training systems, and catering processes and work with Leads to ensure timely preparation and delivery
• Team Leaders must be certified in Chick-fil-A training modules pertaining to their areas
• Team Leaders must report to work in proper uniform at all times
• Mandatory participation in identified Leadership meetings and training
• Continually demonstrates the SERVE model
• Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates impartiality by treating all employees equally and fairly
• Team Leads must have Saturday availability
• Availability changes that cannot be accommodated by the business may impact your ability to maintain your current position
• Remains engaged in the pursuit of all business goals
