Position Overview Registered Nurse Specialist - Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for surveying and certifying health care facilities across Florida to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and safe, quality health care. Responsibilities Conduct inspections of health care facilities using the established survey process. Evaluate health care facilities for state licensure and federal certification requirements for participation under Medicare/Medicaid. Document findings and complete written reports of survey findings. Serve as an individual inspector, team member, or team leader as assigned. Successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within the first 12 months of employment. Work during weekends, holidays, and in response to emergencies or disasters, including travel to other counties or staffing locations. Maintain a good attendance record and report to work daily and on time. Provide adequate notice of leave in advance, except in emergency circumstances. Follow all state and federal policies, regulations, and procedures related to nursing home inspections. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of state licensure and federal certification survey requirements. Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to develop and implement monitoring programs and techniques. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively, including oral communication and attentive listening. Skills in interview procedures, team dynamics, and performance evaluation/review methods. Ability to use microcomputer equipment and software to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data. Ability to travel with or without accommodations. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Minimum Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Florida (Statute 464) and possess two years of professional nursing experience. Preference given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing under Florida Administrative Code 64B9-3.
