Job Summary The Revenue Cycle Specialist I, under the direction of the Supervisor, performs all billing and collection activities for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and professional services provided by Onvida Health. Responsibilities include billing, collections, denial review, appeals, payment applications, credit balance resolution, self‑pay billing and collections, financial assistance, and bad debt applications. Core Responsibilities Hospital and Professional Billers — perform initial billing on third‑party claims electronically or on paper; review and correct all billable claims in billing software; prepare and submit billing attachments; comply with regulatory requirements. Hospital and Professional Insurance Collectors — follow up on unpaid, underpaid, suspended, and denied accounts; make outgoing calls to patients and insurers; prepare appeal letters; review remittance advice and resolve payment discrepancies; handle credit balance accounts. Single Billing Office (SBO) Self‑Pay Collectors — manage self‑pay accounts, financial assistance, and collection agency assignment; provide customer service; answer patient calls; set up payment plans; identify financial hardship and qualify for assistance; handle bankruptcy and deceased accounts. Enterprise Billing (EB) Payment Posters — apply insurance payments electronically or from paper EOBs; enter adjustments, denial codes, copays, deductibles, and coinsurance; process patient cash, check, and credit card payments; daily lockbox posting; reconcile cash; manage refunds; maintain productivity and accuracy to meet monthly collection goals. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED. 1+ year experience in a healthcare setting. Preferred Experience Working knowledge of self‑pay or insurance billing and collections. Knowledge of UB04, CMS 1500, and EOB interpretation. Familiarity with CPT, ICD‑10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Understanding of medical reimbursement policies and procedures.
