Medical Assistant- Certified - Pulmonary Medicine - New River Valley - FT

Medical Assistant – Certified (Pulmonary Medicine) Full‑time position at 2900 Lamb Cir – Christiansburg, Virginia. Shift: Day/Evening. Monday‑Friday 8a.m. – 5p.m. Core Responsibilities Collect patient assessment data (height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint, medications, etc.) for assessment by licensed staff. Assist with patient transport and preparation for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, medication listing, and exam assistance. Maintain and clean exam, treatment, x‑ray, and laboratory areas; restock supplies and sterilize reusable equipment. Document patient information and updates in the medical record in a timely manner, complying with Carilion policies. Perform lab procedures: collect urine and blood specimens, label with accurate patient ID, and prepare samples for reference lab. Execute diagnostic tests as appropriate (EKGs, audiograms, vision testing, spirometry) under licensed staff supervision. Assist with referral authorizations, pre‑authorization for testing and ancillary services. Handle patient check‑in/check‑out, update demographic information, answer phones, and schedule appointments. Utilize automated computer systems, including electronic medical records, and administer oral and parenteral medications when authorized. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Medical Assistant certification from a recognized national professional association (e.g., AAMA, AMT, TheNAHP, AMAR, NHA). AHA BLS‑HCP required.
