Registered Nurse Op Oncology

Job Description Performs and documents all procedures and assessments according to department policy. Obtains or delegates the obtaining of a nursing history and complete admission assessments, including pain screening. Evaluates patients for age‑appropriate behavior, motor skills, physiological norms, and signs of abuse or neglect. Conducts follow‑up assessments and evaluations to monitor patient progress. Identifies patient teaching needs and provides education on a planned or spontaneous basis. Administers treatments and medications, interprets and verifies physician orders, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. [Required] Bilingual (English/Spanish). [Preferred] Computer proficiency. [Required] Knowledge and skill in providing care and initiating procedures for patients with medical and/or surgical conditions. [Required] Competence in the use of a computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, thermometer, glucose monitor, pulse oximeter, weight scale, ENT scope, personal protective equipment, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice. [Required] Ability to tactfully handle delicate, sensitive, and sometimes controversial issues related to the care of terminally ill patients and their families. [Required] Good clinical judgment. [Required] Promotion of patient safety through effective communication. [Required] Oncology experience. [Required] Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures. [Required] Ability to work as a team player within a unit. [Required] Effective verbal and oral communication and problem‑solving skills. [Required] Knowledge of Radiation Oncology clinical pathways. [Required] PACU, Pre‑ and Post‑Anesthesia Knowledge. [Required] Education Associate's of Nursing. [Required] Bachelor's of Nursing. [Preferred] Work Experience 1+ acute care experience. [Preferred] 1+ oncology experience. [Preferred] Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (RN). [Required] Basic Life Support – CPR (BLS). [Required] Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). [Preferred] Physical Requirements View work requirements: Pay Range $31.53 - $52.24 per hour.
