About the Position
TravelNurseSource is working with Slate Healthcare to find a qualified ER/Trauma RN in Ganado, Arizona, 86505!
Charge RN experience required. Can cancel 3 shifts per 13-week contract. Housing: 3 Options (No pets for housing option #1) 1) On-site: Around $550 per month. There are SHARED houses and apartments with 3-5 bedrooms. single locked rooms with shared common areas (kitchen, living room, wash/dryer). HOUSING MAY BE AT CAPACITY. NEED TO GET ON WAITLIST AND WILL NOT KNOW IF AVAILABLE UNTIL THEY ARRIVE. SEE NEXT OPTION. 2) Navajoland Inn: 25 minutes east of Sage. $65+ tax. Extended stay with free continental breakfast, gym, washer/dryers. Will stay here UNTIL housing openings. 3) Single units in Gallup, NM (part of Sage): Around $550 per month. 1 hour east of Sage in Gallup, NM. Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse Supervisor (ER & MTU), the ER Nurse accomplishes the Department of Nursing?s strategic objectives by planning and organizing the assigned functions required to operate and maintain patient care activities and services within the nursing scope. The ER Nurse ensures quality and compassionate direct patient care is provided in assigned areas and maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the task performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Meet and comply with the Hospital policies and procedures. Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances including The Arizona Department of Health Division of Licensing Services (ADOH), Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission. Ensure strict confidentiality of all employee and patient information. Provide and support activities regarding implementation of hospital policy on patient?s rights and responsibilities. Collaborate to ensure proper provision of care to provide for physiological, psychosocial environmental, educational and discharge planning needs of the patient are met. Collaborate with medical providers and other discipline resources in planning and providing patient care services. Implement standard of care practices for the treatment of patients in the ER. Establish, implement, and communicate goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in accordance with nursing plan and practice. Accurately documents all patient care activities, changes in patients? condition, reassessment, and response to therapy, and pertinent communication with members of the health care team in the patient?s electronic health record. Participates in a code blue for patients in Medical/Telemetry Unit (MTU) or Outpatient Clinic (OPD) if needed and an active member of the ER code team and Rapid Response Team (RRT). Accurately administers blood/blood products, medication/medical treatment, monitors and documents patient?s condition and response to therapy in accordance with current standards of care and hospital policy. Perform basic neurological exam and assessments of mental status, to include level of consciousness, respiratory pattern, presence of confusion, lethargy or hallucinations and motor strength. Prepare patient for examination. Escort the patient from the lobby to the assigned triage room. Perform basic assessments including vital signs, weight, and height and determine the purpose of the visit. Then, record all information in the patient?s electronic health record. Assure that all test and procedures ordered are performed and completed. Review immunization records of patients. Assist with GYN exams. Ensure triage is performed in a timely and efficient manner. Perform application of cardiac monitor and EKG electrodes and completes a 12 lead EKG, if appropriate. Assist with Ambulation of patients. Transport patients to other hospital departments as needed. Perform sterile and unsterile dressing changes. Practices infection control and patient safety procedures. Ability to start a peripheral IV site or sites Obtain specimens for labs and transport them to the appropriate location. Perform basic laboratory procedures to Breath testing. Urine Pregnancy testing Rapid Strep testing Capillary Glucose screening Hemoccult / stool specimen screening Venipuncture Critical & routine lab result reporting to the provider Nasal Swab (Flu A/B, RSV, COVID19) HCG Test Urine Dipstick Delegate assigned duties to the ERT?s that are within the scope of their certification for them to adhere to the treatment regimen. Practice proper isolation techniques and maintain a clean safe working environment. Maintain a clean and comfortable environment for the patient. Ensure patients? needs are met. Clean exam rooms after each patient?s visit. Keep hallways clear and free of any clutter. Perform a daily check on rooms, work areas and restocking as needed. Coordinate ordering of medical and CSR (Central Supply Room) supplies. Accept and adapt to change in work area and/or work duties as assigned. Translates diagnosis information into Navajo language or arranges for a translator for the patient. Provide educational materials and learning opportunities to the patient, family and/or significant other concerning diagnosis and recommended treatment. Maintain positive working relationship with physicians and co-workers. Participate in Quality initiatives and Performance Improvement assignments for the department. Complete required competencies for each unit assigned to work. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations. Maintain personal record of in-service participation. Attend mandatory staff meetings. Provides ?On-Call? duties as assigned. Participates in the annual new hire orientation and other annual mandatory training requirements (e.g.: CPI, Blood Transfusion). Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications: Ability to think critically and clearly under stress. Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable tribal, federal, state, local laws, and regulations. Knowledge of and ability to interpret the Joint Commission Standards for Accreditation. Knowledge of effective principles and practices in education and development. Knowledge of standards of care for patient care. Knowledge of patient evaluation and Emergency Severity Index (ESI) triaging system. Knowledge of clinical instruments and equipment. Knowledge in Emergency Department operations. Understand policy and procedure for the trauma system. Knowledge of appropriate procedures and standards for administering of medications and patient care aids. Knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment needed for procedures and how to complete the requisition forms. Knowledge of abnormal and normal cardiac monitor strips, including abnormalities or rate, or abnormally appearing complexes of heart block. Knowledge of the blood bank alarm response procedures. Knowledge of the location of all supplies, forms, crash cart in the department. Knowledge of the abuse and domestic violence policy and procedures. Ability to perform effective interpersonal skills and function at a high level of independence. Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels. Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way. Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines. Ability to continually seek improvement in results. Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mathematics. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the public. Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including windows, word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions and implementing recommendations. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; reach with hands and arms; and to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office, clinic or hospital setting with exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment and exposure to blood borne pathogens. Exposure to latex products on a routine basis. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Associates of Science in Nursing, BSN preferred. Two years of clinical nursing experience in the ED preferred. Valid unrestricted nursing license from the state of Arizona or another compact licensing state. Valid American Heart Association certification of BLS, ACLS, PALS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification will be required within 45 days of hire. Proof of course enrollment will be required before start date and course fees will be reimbursed after satisfactory 90-day probation period.
