Warehouse TechnicianThe Warehouse Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient handling, storage, and movement of materials and finished goods within Webco's manufacturing and distribution operations. This role ensures production continuity, supports shipping and receiving processes, and maintains inventory integrity to meet customer requirements. The Warehouse Technician contributes to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Handling: Load, unload, move, and stage materials and products using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or other equipment as required.Inventory Management: Accurately receive, label, store, and retrieve raw materials and finished goods using inventory systems.Shipping & Receiving: Assist with staging, packing, verifying, and documenting shipments per internal and customer specifications.Cycle Counts & Audits: Conduct routine inventory counts; investigate and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate stock levels.Documentation & Data Entry: Record material movements, inventory transactions, and shipping/receiving data in ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS).Safety & Housekeeping: Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment.Team Collaboration: Coordinate with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.Equipment Care: Perform pre-use inspections and routine maintenance on material handling equipment.Core Competencies & SkillsSkill / CompetencyDescription / ToolsMaterial HandlingProficient in moving, staging, and securing materials safely and efficiently.Inventory AccuracyMaintains precise records and follows procedures to prevent inventory errors.Shipping/ReceivingKnowledge of bill of lading (BOL), packing lists, and freight processes.Forklift OperationLicensed or trained to safely operate forklifts and similar equipment.Computer & ERP SkillsExperience using warehouse systems, scanners, or ERP modules (e.g., SAP, Epicor).Attention to DetailDetects labeling, count, or location errors before impacting operations.Time ManagementPrioritizes tasks to meet production and shipping deadlines.Problem SolvingResponds quickly to issues such as missing stock or damaged materials.Character Attributes / Soft Skills (Aligned with Webco Core Values)AttributeDescription / Observable BehaviorsIntegrityHonest and accurate with inventory, documentation, and equipment use.TrustworthinessReliable under pressure; consistently meets expectations and deadlines.Team-First AttitudeWilling to assist coworkers, adapt to workload changes, and share responsibilities.AccountabilityTakes ownership of errors, corrects them promptly, and prevents recurrence.DependabilityPunctual, prepared, and contributes to a consistent operation.Safety MindsetFollows protocols and looks out for coworkers' well-being.AdaptabilityAdjusts to changing work orders, materials, or production schedules.Performance Indicators / Success MetricsInventory Accuracy: High accuracy in counts, labeling, and location tracking.On-Time Shipping: Orders staged and shipped on schedule with correct documentation.Zero Incidents: Adherence to safety protocols with no recordable incidents.Team Collaboration: Positive feedback from production and logistics teams.Cycle Count Compliance: Accurate completion of inventory counts with minimal variances.Operational Efficiency: Timely movement of materials and readiness of equipment.Required & Preferred QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GED.1–3 years of experience in warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, or material handling.Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or overhead cranes (certification preferred or trainable).Basic computer skills and ability to learn warehouse systems and scanners.Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.PreferredOSHA forklift certification or equivalent.Experience in metals, tubing, or industrial manufacturing environments.Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Epicor, Oracle) for warehouse and inventory management.Familiarity with Lean practices such as 5S, standard work, or continuous improvement.Typical Physical DemandsFrequent lifting of 50+ lbs., standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling materials.Extended periods of sitting or operating material handling equipment.Manual dexterity for scanning, labeling, and documentation tasks.Ability to work in both indoor and warehouse production environments with temperature variations.Typical Working ConditionsIndoor, temperature-controlled office and climate-controlled warehouse areas.Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, cranes, industrial traffic, dust, and noise.PPE required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection when in production areas.Must comply with all safety procedures, protocols, and environmental regulations.
