Outpatient Coding Specialist - (2 PT)

Medical Coding Specialist (Outpatient / Profee) Role and Responsibilities Review outpatient encounters and AI coding recommendations across outpatient settings (same-day surgery, observation, ED, clinic, ancillary services). Assess the reasoning quality and accuracy of AI-generated code assignments, modifiers, APC selection, and LCD/NCD compliance. Identify cases where AI recommendations diverge from correct coding practices and explain why. Describe the reasoning patterns behind accurate code and modifier selection to our product team to improve AI recommendations — including payer-specific nuances, modifier sequencing logic, and bundling considerations that experienced outpatient coders carry as tacit knowledge. Critique presentations and provide subject matter expertise to our GTM team. Required Credentials Minimum 1 year outpatient / profi coding experience. Experience with APC assignment, NCCI edits, and modifier application. Multi-specialty experience preferred. AHIMA or AAPC Certification Familiarity with at least one major EHR (Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
