Job Description

The Mammography Technologist provides essential healthcare services by applying x-ray energy to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position involves performing medical imaging techniques and related procedures to accurately demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation by licensed practitioners. The technologist exercises professional judgment while maintaining ethical standards and offers appropriate patient care throughout the imaging process.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform breast imaging procedures with accuracy and professionalism.
• Assist in maintaining medical records while respecting patient confidentiality and established policies.
• Take responsibility for the assigned area and promptly report any equipment malfunctions.
• Provide practical instruction to students and other healthcare professionals as needed.
• Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan, which may include specific quality control duties.
• Manage inventory and ensure the care and control of specific mammography items, such as compression devices.
• Adhere to Universal precautions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety protocols.
• Demonstrate strong patient relations skills to enhance patient experience.
• Pursue appropriate continuing education to remain current in the field.

Education

Must be a graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited radiography program or an equivalent program. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both radiography and mammography is required. Additionally, a valid state license to practice Radiologic Technology is necessary.

Experience

Candidates should possess experience as a Mammography Technologist, demonstrating the knowledge base and skills required to successfully perform breast imaging procedures.

Unit Description

This position operates on a day shift basis, with hours potentially ranging from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
