Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting both administrative and clinical functions to ensure efficient office operations and high-quality patient care. This position involves direct patient interaction, provider support, and accurate documentation in accordance with state regulations. Responsibilities include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with routine clinical tasks to facilitate a smooth and professional healthcare experience.Clerical Duties:Schedule appointments, call in prescriptions, initiate prior authorizations.Maintain legal, ethical, and accurate documentation.Support training of new staff, assist with front desk and phones as needed.Follow physician preferences and compliance protocols (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).Clinical Duties:Room patients and collect vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.Assist providers during examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments.Administer injections and perform point-of-care testing as ordered.Scribe during patient visits and prepare documentation for provider review in the EMR.Verify and prepare patient charts, ensuring labs, imaging, pathology, and referral reports are complete.Sterilize instruments, operate the autoclave, and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms and clinical supplies.Triage patient clinical calls and respond to EMR tasks, pharmacy coordination, and patient communications.Manage medication samples and inventory in compliance with clinical protocols.Adhere to HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and safety procedures.Surgical Procedure Support:Prepare and stock exam rooms with necessary tools and materials for in-office surgeries.Assist providers during minor surgical procedures by passing instruments, positioning equipment, and offering surgical support.Monitor patients during numbing periods and ensure their comfort and safety while the physician is out of the room.Answer non-medical questions regarding the procedure.As with any dynamic clinical setting, responsibilities may evolve to meet the changing needs of the clinic and support overall team success.Qualifications & Requirements:High school diploma or GED required.1 – 2 years of clinical experience required.Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Behavioral Expectations:Attention to detail, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills.Act as a professional representative of the practice at all times.Work Environment & Physical Expectations:On-site, clinical office setting.Monday–Friday, daytime schedule; occasional after-hours meetings may be required.Ability to move throughout the office as needed, including frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting. Must possess manual dexterity for handling equipment and the ability to push, pull, and carry items as required.Maintain professional appearance and safe, clean workspace.
