Urgent Care Physician Assistant

We are seeking a Locum Tenens Physician Assistant in Glen Allen, Virginia.

Shift: 8:00 AM 8:00 PM; 12+ hour shifts depending upon patient flow; 3 shifts per week.

Start Date: As soon as credentialed

Position Details: Three full-time providers needed, with 3 shifts per week each, for a total of 9 shifts per week. Clinics are open 7 days a week. Expected to see all patients who arrive during operating hours. Credentialing timeframe is days.

Patient Population: Birth to death; patient population varies by clinic and day. Approximately patients per day, with higher volume during cold and flu season.

Setting: 100% outpatient clinic

Responsibilities: Provide urgent care services; evaluate and treat patients; perform laceration repair, incision and drainage, foreign body removal, minor burn management, skin lesion care, orthopedic and injury stabilization, splinting and casting, joint reduction, diagnostic and point-of-care testing, X-ray interpretation, EKG evaluation, point-of-care lab interpretation, epistaxis management, cerumen removal, and airway support including nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization.

Required Procedures: Laceration repair; I&D; foreign body removal; minor burn management; orthopedic/injury stabilization; splinting and casting; joint reduction; epistaxis management; cerumen impaction removal; airway support.

Support Staff: Not specified

Days Per Month: Approximately shifts per month based on 3 shifts per week

On-Call/Weekends: No call. Weekend coverage expected as clinics operate 7 days a week.

Requirements:

- Board Certified Required

- Active VA License Required

- Active BLS and DEA Required

- At least 1 year of experience in an ED/ER, primary care, or urgent care setting Required
