Job Overview

• Specialty : Surgery - Neurovascular

• Hospital Location : Portland, ME
• Setting: 100% Inpatient
• Summary: Endovascular neurosurgeon needed at a high-volume stroke center for - 1 2 weekends a month
• Availability : about 10 days per month. Coverage scheduled in 2–3 predictable blocks of 3–4 consecutive days
• CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The locum physician will provide comprehensive inpatient care for urgent and emergent cerebrovascular disease, including:
  • Mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke
  • Ruptured and complex intracranial aneurysms
  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Intracranial hemorrhage requiring neuroendovascular intervention
  • Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
  • Dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs)
  • Carotid and intracranial occlusive disease
  • Other urgent cerebrovascular conditions requiring open or endovascular management
• Responsibilities include:
  • Emergency Department and inpatient consultations
  • Interpretation of advanced cerebrovascular imaging
  • Diagnostic cerebral angiography when clinically indicated
  • Mechanical thrombectomy
  • Endovascular aneurysm treatment
  • Other neuroendovascular procedures
  • Open vascular neurosurgical procedures when appropriate
  • Peri-procedural inpatient management
  • Coverage is limited exclusively to vascular neurosurgical patients
