Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist – Cath & EP Lab Tech Location: Baylor Regional Medical Center Grapevine, 1650 W College St, Grapevine, TX 76051 Job Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, assists physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures, prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient condition, and provides routine and emergency care during procedures. Contributes to orientation and training of other team members and participates in quality control initiatives. Essential Functions Assist physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, and peripheral and coronary interventions. Follow national and state radiation protection regulations; provide emergency procedures such as CPR and defibrillation. Perform pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring. Orient patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures; answer related questions. Monitor patient ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances in the electrophysiology lab; notify physician of variances. Assist in running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and procedural documentation. Manage and maintain images for stenosis testing and processing on cardiac and peripheral cases. Collect registry and quality data; gather catheterization data and prepare procedure reports. Prepare and maintain sterile fields; order and maintain inventory of supplies; ensure rooms are stocked and equipment is not expired. Coordinate and audit resources during yearly inventories; perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment. Orient and train new staff and students; handle additional duties as assigned. Oversee quality control monitoring such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, and performance improvement initiatives. Participate in governance, departmental, hospital, or professional organization committees, including LEAN initiatives, NOBLE, 5S projects, and QC assurance. Transport patients to and from procedural area and demonstrate good customer service skills. Key Success Factors Education or experience: associate’s degree in a related field, completion of US military training program equating to an associate’s degree, or two years of related cardiovascular lab experience. Availability for on‑call response per facility/department policy. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular instrumentation and techniques. Understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent work experience (minimum two years of experience preferred). Graduation from an accredited RCIS‑related technical or associate’s degree program preferred. Citizenship or permission to work in the United States. Licensure/credential: Required to hold a radiography or imaging credential such as ARRT‑R, MRT through the Texas Medical Board, or RCIS; preferred certifications include RCIS, RCES, CEPS, CCDS, or CRA. Certifications: ACLS and BLS within 30 days of hire; ARRT‑R Radiography, Cert Cardiac Device Spec (CCDS), Cert EP Specialist (CEPS), Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT), Reg Cardio Electrophysiology (RCES), Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Sp (RCIS). Essential Working Conditions Full‑time, four days a week, 10‑hour day shifts (6:00 am–4:30 pm); on‑call days approximately 7 to 8 per month, including weekends and holidays; emergency call response within 30 minutes of notification.
