Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to adolescent and adult patients in a specialized inpatient setting. Responsible for managing mental health crises, administering medications, and ensuring patient safety within a fast-paced, behavioral health environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' mental health status, de-escalate crisis situations, and implement intervention strategies.
• Administer psychotropic medications, including IM injections and PO medications, in accordance with physician orders.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans.
• Document patient progress, behaviors, and interventions accurately and promptly.
• Assist with patient transport, perform routine treatments such as phlebotomy and EKGs, and support patient activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Respond effectively to emergent situations, utilizing crisis intervention and restraint protocols when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Possess at least 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, preferably with behavioral health populations.
• Hold current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; additional training such as Handle with Care or CPI is required before start.
• Demonstrate de-escalation skills, crisis management experience, and proficiency in restraint use.
• Prefer candidates with recent medical experience in MS, MS-Tele, PCU, or ICU settings, but ED experience is not required.
• Capable of reading telemetry strips and identifying major rhythms with telemonitoring equipment.
