We are currently searching for a Mortgage Banker! Under the direction of the Market Leader, the Mortgage Banker originates Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae, USDA, VA, OHFA, FHA, Jumbo and Construction loans. The Mortgage Banker also promotes the financial institution and its lending services to the real estate community and helps to identify and serve the community’s financial needs through home loan counseling, real estate agent relationships and sales meetings, and by participating in and promoting the financial institution’s community activities. This person will identify other financial services (i.e. consumer/commercial lending and deposit/investment opportunities) for the company. Responsibilities: New Business Development and Loan Originator Responsibilities: Responsible for outside sales through generating new mortgage loan volume for the bank. This will include soliciting new business relationships and deepening relationships with existing customers. Sales are focused on first mortgages with the primary goal of bringing in new purchase business and secondarily refinances. Inform prospective loan clients of the financial institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations Proactively schedules sales appointments each week and manages pipeline to ensure sales goals are being consistently met each month. Responsible for referring customers to the other areas of the bank, including but not limited to retail, commercial, investments, and private banking. Distribute market data, rate flyers and general loan information to the real estate community. Actively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers and prospects. Personally interviews and cross-sells all loan applicants. Completes each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be mailed within the required regulatory time period for mortgage loans. Screens loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution and sells the appropriate loan type to the customer based on needs. Communicates complex approvals or denials to the borrower, real estate agent and/or builder. Sells and participates in the financial institution’s special credit programs and other CRA programs. Sells and outlines terms of loan. Informs prospective borrowers of loan commitments. Works to ensure there are no loan exceptions and clears exceptions timely. Operations: Keep abreast of changes in products, policies and procedures, and attend training as needed. Works with asset management department regarding delinquent account files for the financial institution. Performs other duties as assigned. Customer Service: Assists customers with resolution of account problems and issues. Provides customer information and support. Qualifications 1 or more years of experience in a Mortgage Sales Origination position with experience in working directly with realtors and builders. Knowledge of mortgage loan products and guidelines (Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae, USDA, VA, OHFA, FHA, Jumbo and Construction loans) Prefer a bachelor’s degree in business administration or another area closely related to financial services or sales.
