Veterinary Technician - Emergency

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. Schedule: This is a daytime position. Shifts are either 8a–8p or 10a–10p. Some holidays and weekends are required. Pay: $20.00–$40.50 per hour This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience. Responsibilities Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique and patient positioning. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations. Proficiently perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
