# Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiac Telemetry/Stroke Unit – North Carolina Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend plus two Mondays and two Fridays in a 6-week period Highlights:

• Fast-paced cardiac and stroke telemetry unit with high patient turnover (78-90 patients weekly)
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 with team lead support for admissions and discharges
• Contract length: 20 weeks or longer, through February 27 end date
• Pre and post-procedure cardiac care including pacemakers, ICDs, cardiac catheterization, and peripheral vascular procedures
• Manage and titrate multiple cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Epic (Dimensions) charting system with Pyxis medication management
• 36-hour orientation program with comprehensive onboarding support

Requirements:

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry experience required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Strong experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac drips
• Comfort managing 5-6 patient assignments in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Experience with cardiac patients including CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA/TIA, chest pain evaluation, and post-cardiac procedures
• Ability to float to other units as needed and participate in on-call rotation based on census
• First-time travelers and local candidates welcome
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Patient Population & Clinical Focus:

This specialized unit serves as the primary cardiac and stroke center, caring for patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, congestive heart failure, dysrhythmias, and all new CVA/TIA patients. You'll provide expert pre and post-procedure care for pacemaker implantation, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac catheterization with TR band management, and uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular and cardiac procedures. The unit manages patients requiring non-rebreather masks with stable oxygen saturation, high-flow oxygen, and chronic BiPAP support. During surge periods, the unit also cares for COVID-positive patients utilizing opti-flow and BiPAP.

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities:

• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias with appropriate interventions
• Titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications per protocol
• Manage IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
• Provide arterial line management and central line care
• Administer blood products and maintain isolation precautions
• Perform wound care including wound vac management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including PT, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
