Registered Nurse- Critical Care/Progressive Care

Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Eligible for the EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet VHA policy eligibility and submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined after review of the application. Former participants are ineligible. Basic Requirements English Language Proficiency : Proficient in basic written and spoken English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f). Graduate of a professional nursing program approved by an accrediting agency (ACEN or CCNE) at the time of completion, or completion of a master's level bridge program equivalent to a bachelor's in Nursing. State license required; temporary appointment allowed while pursuing licensure. Foreign nursing education requires a formal equivalency validation from a recognized evaluation (e.g., ICD). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) candidates may be appointed on a temporary basis while actively pursuing licensure. Grade Determinations Nurse I, Level I : Scope – fundamental care; Education – ADN or Diploma in Nursing. Nurse I, Level II : Scope – integration of concepts; Education – ADN or Diploma plus 1 year of experience (or BSN with no additional experience). Nurse I, Level III : Scope – practice proficiency; Education – ADN or Diploma plus 2 years of experience (or BSN plus 1 year of experience) or MSN/related field with BSN. Nurse II : Scope – leadership in holistic care; Education – BSN with 2 years of experience (or MSN with 1 year) or Doctoral degree with no experience. Nurse III : Scope – advanced leadership and management; Education – MSN with 2 years of experience (or Doctoral degree with 1 year) or related field with BSN. Preferred Experience 3 years of Inpatient Critical Care experience.
