Assistant Professor of Music Faculty - 12 Month St. Louis, MO, US Harris-Stowe State University is a historically Black institution (HBCU) located in the heart of vibrant mid-town St. Louis, Missouri. The campus is minutes from the Gateway Arch, St. Louis Zoo, and other cultural institutions, offering a diverse academic environment to a richly diverse student body. Job Summary Harris-Stowe State University, a teaching and research-oriented institution in downtown St. Louis, seeks a tenure‑tracked Assistant Professor of Music beginning Fall 2021. Qualifications Earned PhD in Music Education or earned doctorate in music from an accredited university or college. At least two years of college or public school teaching experience. Experience with current classroom instructional technology. Knowledge and experience in African American music, Latin American music, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Country. Experience organizing and running concert chorale and university choirs. Responsibilities Teach a variety of music courses, including day as well as evening classes. Participate in faculty advising. Serve on university‑wide committee assignments. Physical Requirements Ability to lift materials less than ten pounds. Working Conditions and Environment Office space provided in the Henry Givens Administration Building with all necessary equipment (computers, printers) in a professional cubicle setting with colleagues.
