The Quality Manager ensures that quality standards are rigorously implemented and maintained on the shop floor, driving continuous improvement and resolving day-to-day quality challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the overall quality function for CNC metal machined products, ensuring consistent adherence to internal standards and customer requirements.

  • Review contracts, purchase orders, and customer specifications to ensure all quality requirements are clearly understood and fully integrated into manufacturing processes.

  • Act as the primary liaison with customers and suppliers to address and resolve quality complaints, coordinate audits, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.

  • Champion the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality-related policies, procedures, and work instructions across the organization.

  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections on machined products using mechanical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin and thread gages, and comparators, as well as CMM when applicable.

  • Measure and validate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) results, ensuring accuracy and alignment with part drawings and specifications.

  • Develop, review, and maintain inspection plans, routings, and quality checkpoints to ensure they accurately reflect current manufacturing processes.

  • Utilize ERP to manage and maintain quality-related records, including inspection results, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and customer documentation.

  • Ensure all quality data within ERP is accurate, up to date, and supports efficient, repeatable manufacturing processes.

  • Maintain and oversee the inspection tool calibration program, ensuring all measurement equipment is calibrated, within tolerance, and compliant with internal and customer requirements.

  • Ensure calibration records are accurately maintained and fully traceable within ERP, including gage status, calibration intervals, and certification documentation.

  • Mentor and develop inspectors in practical problem-solving techniques, metrology best practices, and the effective use of quality tools.

  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and planning teams to solve day-to-day quality issues on the shop floor and improve process capability and repeatability.

  • Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, process stability, and overall product quality.

  • Apply expert knowledge of GD&T and relevant standards to interpret drawings and ensure products meet all dimensional and geometric specifications.

Essential Skills

  • At least 8 years of experience inspecting CNC metal machined products, including measuring and validating CMM results.

  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager or QC Manager within a CNC manufacturing environment.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), including the relevant Y14.5 standard.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret detailed part drawings and technical blueprints.

  • Hands-on proficiency with mechanical inspection tools such as CMM, micrometers, height gages, indicators, calipers, comparators, pin gages, and thread gages.

  • Demonstrated experience in quality control and quality management within a precision machining context.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems.

  • Solid metrology knowledge and practical experience with measuring instruments and techniques.

  • CMM programming experience for inspection of machined components.

  • Ability to use an ERP system to manage quality records, NCRs, and inspection documentation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve quality issues on the shop floor in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal teams, customers, and suppliers regarding quality matters.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working within a highly regulated or standards-driven manufacturing environment.

  • Background in continuous improvement methodologies focused on scrap reduction, process capability, and repeatability.

  • Experience coordinating and supporting customer and supplier audits.
