Account Executive
Pivot seeks an Account Executive to join our team ahead of the 2026 election cycle. This is a hybrid position in our Client Services Department either based in Washington, DC or Kansas City, MO.
As an Account Executive, you are comfortable managing multiple projects at the same time and finding ways to make the work more efficient and effective. You don't shy away from lending your time to the team to help get the work done. Account Executives collaborate internally, handling clients with tight deadlines and changing strategies.
The Client Services staff work closely with Pivot's Creative, Production and Targeting teams to develop unique direct mail strategies for our clients. Each member of our team brings diverse perspectives and unique expertise to make an impact in democratic campaigns and organizations across the country.
This is a full-time, temporary position through Election Day 2026 with competitive salary and excellent benefits. The nature of our business requires long hours during the election cycle, and we expect all staff to be flexible in this area. Weekend and evening work will be required. However, Pivot works to ensure all staff maintain a healthy work/life balance.
This role is expected to attend occasional in-person meetings. The Account Executive will work onsite 2-3 days per week depending on team needs in either our offices in Washington, DC or Kansas City, MO.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The anticipated start date for this role is June 2026.
Qualifications
What you bring to the team:
- 6+ years of experience with politics, organizing, advocacy, or labor unions is required; this may include internships, volunteer roles, and other relevant experience.
- 4+ cycles of campaign experience are strongly preferred.
- Expertise in project management.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills: writing, editing, and proofreading excellence are essential for this role.
- Independent and self-motivated; able to complete projects under minimal supervision.
- Patience, understanding, and flexibility to adapt.
- Ability to adapt writing style to suit different audiences and work across teams.
- Commitment to racial equity, social justice, and democratic causes.
- Proven experience managing deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Excel with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who also demonstrate:
- Previous direct mail experience.
- Previous client management experience.

Responsibilities
Project Management
- Develop and maintain comprehensive plans, including timeline and budget.
- Define and implement quality standards and ensure that deliverables meet or exceed these standards.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure processes are being adhered to, and projects are understandable for all.
- Coordinate with Pivot's Creative, Targeting, and Production departments to create the best possible products.
Client Support
- Ensure written communication aligns with messaging goals.
- Work collaboratively with Pivot leadership on strategic decisions and creative development.
- Ensure clients are aware of project timelines and important updates.
- Update budgets and plans as timelines, universes, or client needs change.
Content Creation
- Create campaign mail plans and budgets in coordination with internal departments.
- Draft concepts and copy that maintain client's messaging goals.
- Manage client edits and feedback into mail pieces with great attention to detail.
- Oversee quality control of internal and external outputs to ensure error-free work.
Internal Processes
- Participate in the proofreading and editing process.
- Ensure all internal processes are followed.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this position is set at $6,630 per month. There is also the opportunity for end of election bonuses, based off individual and firm performance. To ensure pay equity across our team, salaries are non-negotiable.

4. Zoom Interview (45-60 min)
You will meet with 3 members of our team in a panel-style interview to discuss the position more in depth.
5. Reference Checks
For our final stage, we will ask you to provide contact info for 2-3 professional references.
