Dilboy Stadium Laborer (Multiple Openings)

The Dilboy Stadium Laborer is responsible for the oversight of Dilboy Stadium facility. Dilboy rentals include activities for children, adults, seniors, and other special citizens of Somerville. Performs all related duties. Works with various populations of the Somerville community in connecting them to the appropriate resources. Works independently and is responsible for overseeing activities. Duties include opening and closing the facility, setting up and cleaning up for special events, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Works collaboratively with Parks & Recreation team in providing quality programing. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or any equivalent of education. Training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skill: Knowledge: Must have knowledge of various recreational modalities. Abilities: Ability to meet and deal with the public effectively and appropriately; ability to handle problems effectively; ability to communicate clearly orally; ability to maintain confidential information; ability to maintain, manage, and organize records; ability to deal appropriately with employees, officials and members of the general public. Skill: Excellent organizational skills. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday discomforts typical of offices, with frequent exposure to elements. Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting, but conditions are generally not unpleasant. Work requires some agility and physical strength, such as moving in or about ice rink, standing or walking for some of the work period. Occasionally, work may require lifting heavy objects and carrying them. There may be need to stretch and reach to retrieve materials. The work may require extended physical effort over a significant portion of the work day. Motor Skills: Duties are both mental and physical; the job may occasionally require motor skills for activities such as moving objects, interacting in recreational activities, operating a telephone. Visual Skills: Visual demands require constantly reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.
